Vickie GomezHonorary Membership (2006) Along with the many awards and accolades along the years, we can definitely say that we will miss Vickie's commitment and participation to our state. She is truly a great example for our profession. As so many of you know, we touch so many lives when we work in this profession. It's really a joy to find someone that can still call students mijo or mija (Spanish slang for son or daughter) and say "can I suggest something". It has been such an honor to work along side with such a contributor for our profession. She has not only given her time and effort to our profess-ion, but she has also been involved with the local school districts and school boards. Vickie served in many positions in AACRAO and TACRAO including Vice President for Admissions from 1999-2002. Vickie received a B.S. degree from The University of Texas at Austin and a M.A. degree from The University of Texas of the Permian Basin and most recently attended the Summer Institute on College Admissions from Harvard University. Upon retiring Ms. Gomez plans to spend time with friends and family. She will, of course, not be resting as she will start to volunteer with local community organizations. If you ever get the chance to meet her, trust me, you will remember her. Ms. Vickie Gomez you are well deserving of the award of "Honorary membership to TACRAO". November 5, 2006
