Sheila GrayHonorary Membership It is an honor and a privilege to introduce TACRAO’s newest honorary member, Sheila Gray. Sheila Gray began her thirty-year career in education working in the public-school system in Wichita, Kansas, and later moved to higher education as the Registrar at Wichita Area Technical College. Fifteen years ago, Sheila left Kansas and moved south to join the Texas Tech University Undergraduate Admissions team and the TACRAO family. Sheila has been an active member of TACRAO as presenter, moderator, committee member and chair, and has also been active in the national, regional and local organizations. Most recently Sheila chaired the University Issues Committee and assisted with planning the 2022 summer meeting. She retired August 31st as a Director in Undergraduate Admissions at Texas Tech where she was responsible for processing, application review and residency. While at Texas Tech Sheila describes how she had the pleasure of helping students realize their educational goals and training a new generation of higher education professionals. Sheila would like to thank TACRAO for this honorary membership recognition, for the many friends she has made in the organization, as well as the numerous opportunities for professional growth through the years. She describes how the TACRAO family has been an outstanding resource for someone who is a first-generation college student, was new to Texas, and needed help with policies and rules - the members were always willing to mentor and provide guidance. Sheila recognizes the many opportunities TACRAO provides for all members to be involved, and some of her fondest memories are connecting with colleagues and sharing ideas at the annual conferences. Sheila looks forward to traveling with her husband, sewing, and spending time with family and, and although she has retired from fulltime employment, she will continue to work part-time in higher education as a member of the consulting team at AACRAO. Please join me in welcoming and recognizing Sheila Gray as a TACRAO Honorary Member. |
