Marcella CollinsworthHonorary Membership (2008) After a distinguished career serving the University of North Texas for more than 35 years, Director of Admissions Marcilla Collinsworth retired effective August 31, 2008. Troy Johnson, her supervisor had this to say of her, "Marcilla has tendered her heart and soul to UNT and our students." He continued by saying, "Marcilla has led an office that has seen doubling of student inquiries and applications in a short timeframe. As of today, applications for admission to UNT are at an all time high and UNT is shattering its record for number of new National Merit Scholars intending to enroll. The staff in Admissions has helped UNT reach simultaneous growth in quality, quantity, and diversity of students." Marcilla has two degrees from UNT, and she has been Director of Admissions for the past 13 years. She has served on the Board of NT Exes, has been a member of the President's Council for many years, and established an endowed scholarship for UNT students. Last year Marcilla received one of UNT's highest honors, the Ulys Knight Spirit Award. Marcilla is well-known nationally and has served her profession in numerous roles. She served on the inaugural Texas Common Application committee and as President on TACRAO, the nation's largest regional organization of admissions and registrar professionals. She also served as Vice President for Admissions and on many committees for TACRAO. Marcilla finally has time to travel for fun, and she's been enjoying her free time catching up with friends and working on some projects she's been intending to complete and hasn't had time to do. Marcilla, for your contributions, vision, and professionalism to the association and friendships you made as you mentored others through the years, it gives me great pleasure to award you honorary membership in TACRAO.
